Terms & Conditions

The short version

LyPinn is a free, hyper-local notice-board app. You agree to be kind, to follow Indian law, to keep cards anonymous and non-commercial unless you're on a business account, to honour the Neighbour Pledge, and to accept that the service can be paused, throttled or shut down at our discretion. Use of LyPinn is at your own risk — we are a marketplace of intent, not a vetting service.

1. Eligibility — 18+ self-declaration

You must be at least 18 years old to use LyPinn. We do not collect a date of birth at signup. Instead, by ticking the registration checkbox you make a legally binding self-declaration that you are 18+, that you are legally competent to enter this agreement under §11 of the Indian Contract Act, 1872, and that you accept both these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Misrepresenting your age is a material breach — we will terminate the account, retain server logs as required by law, and reserve every other remedy available to us.

1a. Who operates LyPinn

LyPinn is operated by Bhavik Patel (sole proprietor, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380058, India), who is your counter-party under these Terms. "LyPinn" and the LyPinn logo are trademarks of Bhavik Patel; the platform, app and website content are © Bhavik Patel, 2026.

Company being incorporated. A private limited company, LYPINN TECHNOLOGIES PRIVATE LIMITED ("the Company"), is being incorporated to take over the operation of LyPinn, including its trademarks, copyrights, user accounts and associated data, under a formal deed of assignment. By accepting these Terms you consent to that transfer as a business succession event under §8(5) of the DPDPA. When the transfer takes effect we will publish updated Terms and Privacy Policy naming the Company and ask you to accept them before you continue using LyPinn. If you decline the updated documents at that time you may close your account without penalty under §12 (Account closure). Until then Bhavik Patel remains the sole operator, Data Fiduciary and trademark holder.

For legal notice on the current operator, email `contact@lypinn.com`. For IT Act / DPDPA grievances, use `grievance@lypinn.com`.

2. The Neighbour Pledge

Every account-holder ticks three commitments before they can publish or connect: 1. I'll keep it kind. No harassment, slurs, hate speech, threats, or targeting of any individual or group. 2. I won't share personal information. Names, home addresses, phone numbers, financial details, anyone's identity documents — none of that belongs on a card. 3. I'll always meet in public. Any face-to-face meeting prompted by LyPinn must happen in a public, visible location during reasonable hours. Tell a friend where you're going.

Breaking the Pledge is grounds for immediate account suspension.

3. What you can publish

Allowed

  • Genuine, neighbourhood-relevant cards across the supported categories — Cause (community / activism / volunteer drives), Meet Up, Service, Sports, Urgency, Social, Mystery and your private Reminders.
  • A business card with truthful contact intent if you signed up as a business account.
  • GNotes — a 140-character note tied to a single spot, unlocked for the recipient inside the 500 m radius. A GNote can optionally carry one attachment: a ≤15 s voice clip you recorded, a Spotify track, a YouTube video, a sticker, a one-line song lyric, or a Strava route link you choose to share. By attaching a Strava route you confirm the route is yours to share (your own activity or a public route) and that Strava's own terms govern that route's contents.
  • NLocal ideas — short proposals for neighbourhood-specific product features. Ideas are voted on by verified neighbours within the same 3 km radius and reviewed by LyPinn's sub- admin moderators. Posting an idea grants LyPinn a perpetual, royalty-free licence to evaluate, prototype, ship or decline the idea inside the product — see §3a below.
  • A LyPinn ID (public handle) you have claimed for your account. Your LyPinn ID is permanent and identifies you to people you've trusted via LyPinn Connect; treat it the same way you would a public username on any other social product.

Not allowed (non-exhaustive)

  • Anything illegal under Indian law, including but not limited to drug sales, weapons sales, sex work, trafficking, fraud, or facilitation of crime.
  • Hate speech, harassment, doxxing, impersonation, spam, repetitive cards, or content targeting minors.
  • Profanity targeted at a specific person or group. Our server runs a per-language profanity filter at card-create time and rejects obvious slurs; this is a backstop, not a complete shield — you are still responsible for what you post.
  • Sexually explicit content of any kind. LyPinn is strictly not a hookup app even though connections are local.
  • Political campaigning, election-related solicitation, large-scale petitioning, or content that endangers the public order.
  • Any content that violates the IP rights of someone else — this expressly includes attaching a Spotify track, YouTube video, song lyric or Strava route you have no right to share.
  • Multi-level marketing pitches, paid promotions or referral links disguised as neighbourhood requests.

We take down offending content the moment we hear about it. Repeated violations cost you your account.

3a. NLocal — community ideas, our roadmap

When you post an idea on NLocal you confirm that you have the right to do so, that no third party's rights are infringed by the post, and that LyPinn may build (or decline to build) anything inspired by the idea without owing you compensation, credit beyond the in-product credit, or any other consideration. Sub-admin moderators with the `nlocal.moderate` permission may edit your idea for clarity, merge duplicates, change its status (under review / planned / shipped / declined), or take it down if it breaches §3 above. We act on takedowns within a reasonable time of receiving a well-formed report, and (where the law requires) within 36 hours per Rule 3(2)(b) of the Intermediary Guidelines, 2021.

4. Connects and replies

Every connect costs one connect credit (we hand out credits free of charge based on your plan). The recipient may reply once, and then the thread is locked — there is no continuous DM channel on LyPinn. Use the locked thread to exchange contact info if you want to keep talking elsewhere; that's outside LyPinn's scope.

4b. LyPinn Connect and GNote daily limits

LyPinn Connect is an opt-in trusted-contact graph layered on top of LyPinn IDs. Sending someone a Connect request requires knowing their LyPinn ID; the recipient can accept or decline. Either side can pause incoming requests at any time from *Profile → Allow connect requests*. We do not surface your email address to anyone you've connected with — only the LyPinn ID you've chosen to make public.

Daily GNote cap. Every account starts at 1 GNote / 24 hours. You can request a higher cap from inside the app — the first request up to 10/day is auto-approved, anything above that goes to manual moderator review. The hard ceiling is 50 GNotes / day and applies to every account-holder regardless of plan. We reserve the right to lower or revoke an approved bump if we see abuse (spam, copyright violation, anything against §3 above).

Physical-gift QR (printable GNotes). You can flag a GNote as a *printable physical gift* at creation time. The GNote is held in a *deferred* state — the 24-hour clock does not start ticking until you tap Activate on the QR portrait page. Activation is one-time and irreversible: once tapped, the recipient has 24 hours to scan the printed QR and walk to the pinned spot. We do this on purpose — sending a GNote in a wrapped gift is a real-world ritual and the recipient's window should begin only when you choose. We don't refund or extend a GNote whose recipient missed the window. The QR encodes a stable LyPinn link; recipients can scan with any phone camera and, if they don't have the LyPinn app, will open a web fallback that asks them to (a) confirm the same email the GNote was addressed to, (b) enter a one-time 6-digit code we email them, and (c) share their phone's location so we can confirm they are physically near the pin. We log each step of this flow for compliance — see §2 of our Privacy Policy.

5. Reports, blocks, suspensions

Every card carries a Report menu and a Block this user option. Blocking is one-sided and instant — the blocked user's cards disappear from your feed; they can't see, connect, or interact with you. Reports flow to the moderation queue and may trigger a card takedown or account suspension. We do not promise an SLA on moderation but typically act within 24 hours of a well-formed report, and within 36 hours where Rule 3(2)(b) of the Intermediary Guidelines, 2021 applies.

6. Account closure

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. We can suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, the Neighbour Pledge, or applicable law; if you abuse the service in a way that harms other users; or if we are required to do so by a competent authority. We will tell you why where we lawfully can.

7. Service availability

LyPinn is offered free of charge on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee uptime, latency, or that any specific feature will stay available. We may add, remove, or change features without notice. We may pause the service in regions affected by abuse, by request of authorities, or for maintenance. Features may also be turned off per device family or per content type via our feature flag system — in that case a clear "Not available on this device" badge appears in the UI.

7a. Per-feature opt-in

Reminders, GNotes, *Discovery — current location*, and Notify Me are all opt-in in LyPinn. All four default to OFF for every new account (the Discovery-location toggle was grandfathered to ON for accounts that existed before our 2026-05 release; the other three default OFF for everyone). You can turn any of them on or off at any time from Settings → Features (Reminders / GNotes / Discovery) or from Profile → Notify Me, and your choice takes effect immediately. Past data is preserved when you toggle off — only the ability to *add new ones*, *receive new ones*, *use your live GPS for Discover*, or *fire Notify Me pushes* is paused.

  • Reminders OFF: the Reminder category disappears from Drop and Filters; existing reminders stay visible read-only.
  • GNotes OFF: incoming GNotes are paused; senders are politely told you haven't enabled them; in-flight GNotes are held until you re-enable.
  • Discovery — current location OFF: the Discover feed switches to a custom map pin you choose. You can only set one pin per 24 hours (the lock keeps it deliberate); when the lock expires we send a single polite push notification reminding you that you can change the pin if you'd like.
  • Notify Me OFF: no keyword matching runs for your account and no Notify Me push can fire. Your saved keywords + pin are preserved so a re-enable resumes immediately. Notify Me pushes always deep-link to Discover (not to the specific matching card) — see §8 below for the disclaimer.

We don't share your opt-in choices with anyone but the sender attempting an action that needs it.

8. Disclaimers

LyPinn is a notice-board — we don't verify identity claims, we don't act as an introduction service, and we don't endorse any user, card, or activity. You meet other users at your own risk. Always meet in public. Trust your instincts. Tell someone where you're going.

Location-based reminders and GNotes (the in-app nudges that fire when you arrive at a pinned place) rely on the location and geofence services your device offers. They are a convenience, not a primary tool. Reminders run in the background only if you explicitly opt in; GNotes are foreground-only (they unlock the moment you next open LyPinn or scan the share link inside the pinned spot's radius). Notifications may be delayed, fire late, or be missed entirely depending on: GPS signal quality, your device's battery saver settings, manufacturer-specific power management (notably MIUI, ColorOS, Funtouch OS, OxygenOS, EMUI, and One UI), whether the app has been force-closed by the OS, and the granted location permissions. We do not maintain a continuously-running background location service. Do not use LyPinn reminders for time-critical or safety-critical tasks — set a separate alarm in your phone's clock app if you need a guaranteed nudge.

Notify Me alerts are an even softer convenience — a best-effort "a card near your pinned spot mentions something like one of your keywords" ping. Matching is a hybrid of substring search, LLM-generated synonyms, and a locally-computed semantic similarity score, and is not guaranteed: you may occasionally receive a notification for a card whose meaning is only loosely related (false positive) or *not* receive one for a card that, with hindsight, you'd have wanted (false negative). Notify Me pushes always deep-link to Discover (your normal 3 km feed centred on your current location) — not to the matching card directly. If you happen to be far from your pinned spot when a match fires, the matching card may not appear in your Discover feed at all; Notify Me is the *signal* that something interesting dropped, not a guaranteed delivery of the card itself.

8a. Sponsored content

Some content on LyPinn is sponsored, meaning a third party has paid or is licensed to display it. Sponsored content is labelled Sponsored or Presented by [name].

LyPinn does not endorse the claims made by advertisers. Any transaction you enter into with a sponsor is between you and the sponsor.

Approval by LyPinn is not verification. LyPinn reviews sponsored submissions for compliance with our Advertiser Policy (no illegal content, no misleading medical claims, no prohibited categories). This review is a formatting and policy check; it is not a factual verification of the advertiser's product, service, or claims.

Reporting. Tap the Report link on any sponsored card to flag it. LyPinn reviews reports within 24 hours and may take content down without notice.

Your controls. You can turn sponsored content off entirely, or turn off any of the personalisation signals (location, keywords, posted-cards history) from Settings → Ads & sponsored content.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bhavik Patel and its partners, employees, officers, and sub-processors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages — including loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity — arising from or connected with your use of the service, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or any other theory. Our total aggregate liability for all direct claims arising out of or related to the service in any twelve-month period is capped at the greater of (a) the fees you actually paid to Bhavik Patel in that period, or (b) ₹5,000 (five thousand Indian rupees). For unpaid individual users the cap is ₹5,000 because the service is provided free of charge. Nothing in this clause limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (e.g. death or personal injury caused by our gross negligence).

9a. Indemnity from you

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Bhavik Patel and its officers, partners, and sub-processors from any third-party claim, demand, loss, damages, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of (a) content you posted, (b) your breach of these Terms or Community Guidelines, (c) your violation of any law, or (d) your infringement of another person's rights (including intellectual property, privacy, and publicity rights).

9b. Licence you grant to LyPinn on your content

By posting a card, sending a Connect message, sharing a GNote (including its voice recording), proposing an NLocal idea, or otherwise submitting content on LyPinn, you grant Bhavik Patel a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sub-licensable, transferable licence to host, cache, store, reproduce, adapt, translate, thumbnail, publicly perform and publicly display that content, solely to the extent necessary to operate, promote, and improve the service. You retain all ownership. The licence terminates when the content itself expires or you delete your account, except for (i) copies retained by users who received it before deletion, and (ii) backup copies kept for a reasonable period to comply with law.

9c. Prohibited content and conduct

You must not use LyPinn to post, share, transmit, or otherwise make available any content that is:

  • Illegal under any law that applies to you or the recipient (drug sales, weapon sales, human trafficking, money laundering, tax evasion, etc.);
  • Sexually explicit, pornographic, or nudity-based, including content that depicts, solicits, or is intended for the sexual exploitation of any person;
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — zero tolerance; detected or reported CSAM is preserved and reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and applicable Indian authorities;
  • Terrorist, extremist, or violent-organisation content — including content that promotes, recruits for, funds, or glorifies terrorism;
  • Self-harm, suicide, or dangerous-behaviour content that encourages, romanticises, or provides methods for harming self or others;
  • Harassment, bullying, hate speech, or threats targeted at a person or group by reference to a protected characteristic (race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or serious disease);
  • Doxxing or private-information sharing without the consent of the affected person (home address, phone number, government ID, financial account, private correspondence);
  • Impersonation of another person, business, or official body (a satire flag is required if the parody is not obvious);
  • Spam, mass-marketing, scams, phishing, or misleading claims — including fake reviews, fake giveaways, pyramid or Ponzi schemes, multi-level-marketing recruitment, and "get rich quick" content;
  • Regulated products without a licence — including prescription pharmaceuticals, financial products lacking SEBI/RBI approval, and gambling/betting content in jurisdictions where these are restricted;
  • Malware, viruses, exploits, or automated tools that attempt to break, overload, or circumvent our anti-abuse systems;
  • Content that infringes another person's copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, or moral rights (see the DMCA section below);
  • Content that misuses another person's likeness, voice, or generative-AI deepfake of them without consent.

This is a non-exhaustive list. The full and evolving list lives in our Community Guidelines at `/legal/terms#community-rules` — you agree to be bound by it. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, permanent ban, and (for repeat or severe violations) referral to law-enforcement.

9d. DMCA / copyright takedown

Bhavik Patel respects the intellectual-property rights of others and expects the same from you. If you are a rights-holder and believe content on LyPinn infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent that includes:

1. A physical or electronic signature of the person authorised to act on behalf of the rights-holder; 2. Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; 3. Identification of the material claimed to be infringing and its location on LyPinn (URL or card ID); 4. Your contact details (name, address, phone, email); 5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that use of the material is not authorised by the rights-holder or the law; 6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights-holder or authorised to act on their behalf.

> Designated Copyright Agent — Bhavik Patel > Bhavik Patel > Bhavik Patel, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380058, India > Email: `dmca@lypinn.com`

We honour the DMCA notice-and-takedown procedure under 17 U.S.C. § 512 and the analogous provisions of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 (as amended). We may also terminate accounts of repeat infringers. If you believe your content was removed by mistake, you may file a counter-notice at the same address containing the elements set out in 17 U.S.C. § 512(g).

10. Intermediary status

Bhavik Patel acts as an intermediary under § 2(1)(w) of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and is entitled to safe-harbour protection under § 79 of the IT Act when third-party content is published by users. We comply with the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 and have appointed a Grievance Officer (see Privacy Policy § 1) and a Nodal Officer for law-enforcement coordination. Lawful takedown notices under Rule 3(1)(d) may be sent to `grievance@lypinn.com` and will be acknowledged within 24 hours and actioned within 72 hours of receipt.

11. Governing law, jurisdiction, and dispute resolution

These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or their subject matter or formation (including non-contractual disputes or claims) are governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

Exclusive jurisdiction. Subject to the class-action waiver below and to any mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence that overrides choice-of-forum, you and Bhavik Patel submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts at Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India for any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms.

Arbitration attempt (India). Before commencing court proceedings, the parties agree to attempt resolution by arbitration seated in Ahmedabad under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996 — sole arbitrator, English language, arbitration to conclude within six months of appointment. This clause does not prevent either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief from the Ahmedabad courts.

Class-action waiver (users in the United States). If you access LyPinn from the United States, you and LyPinn LLP each waive the right to participate in any class action, collective action, or representative proceeding against the other. Any dispute must be brought in the party's individual capacity. If this waiver is held unenforceable, the specific dispute to which it is held unenforceable shall be severed and heard in the Ahmedabad courts.

11a. Boilerplate — force majeure, severability, waiver, entire agreement

Force majeure. Neither party is liable for delay or failure to perform caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including acts of God, war, terrorism, riots, embargoes, acts of civil or military authorities, fire, floods, epidemics, pandemics, government orders, or failures of internet infrastructure, cloud providers, or telecommunication carriers.

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect, and the invalid provision will be replaced with an enforceable provision that best reflects the parties' original intent.

No waiver. Failure by either party to enforce any right does not waive that right or any other right on any later occasion.

Assignment. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without our prior written consent. Bhavik Patel may assign these Terms freely, including as part of a corporate reorganisation or transfer of substantially all assets.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Business Terms (where they apply to you), and any policy expressly incorporated by reference (Community Guidelines, DMCA procedure), constitute the entire agreement between you and Bhavik Patel concerning the service and supersede any prior agreement.

12. Changes

We update these Terms when the service changes meaningfully or when law requires. A fresh acceptance prompt will appear in-app on your next visit after any material change, and your acceptance is recorded in the consent ledger (Privacy Policy § 6). Continued use after an update, combined with your explicit acceptance in the prompt, counts as agreement to the updated Terms. If you do not accept, we will log you out of your account and re-prompt on your next sign-in.

13. Contact

For anything legal, general support, grievances, or takedown requests, contact us at:

  • General support / press: `contact@lypinn.com`
  • Grievance Officer (India): `grievance@lypinn.com`

14. Trending Keywords (v1.1.19)

LyPinn publishes a Trending Keywords surface that aggregates the most-saved Notify Me keywords across the platform. The surface respects a k-anonymity floor of 3 distinct users per keyword. You agree that anything you save as a Notify Me keyword may, once at least three other neighbours save the same or a normalised-equivalent keyword, appear in the aggregate Trending list — without your identity, your exact location, or the original text you typed beyond the first user's representative spelling. To opt out entirely, do not save that keyword in Notify Me; removing the keyword from your account also withdraws it from your individual tally on the next snapshot tick.

_Last updated: 12 July 2026 — v26 (Bhavik Patel entity, user-content licence, DMCA takedown, prohibited-content list, expanded liability cap, class-action waiver for US users, force-majeure boilerplate, Nodal Officer contact)._

Command Center zones, kiosks, and QR drops

Applies to the surfaces introduced in v1.4.x. Where this section conflicts with anything above, the more protective clause wins.

What a Command Center zone is

A Command Center (“CC”) is a partner LyPinn has onboarded to host a physical or virtual event. Each CC has a defined radius on the map. When you are physically inside that radius, LyPinn may adapt the app (custom layout, categorisation, hosted feed) so the experience matches the event you are at. Any cards you post while inside are routed to that CC’s operations team in addition to LyPinn’s normal feed.

How you opt out of a specific Command Center

LyPinn account holders can turn off a specific CC’s customisation from Profile → Settings → Command Center Zone. After you opt out:

  • Cards you post inside that CC’s radius will not be routed to that CC’s categorisation or dashboard.
  • The Discover feed will show the default LyPinn layout while you’re there, not the CC’s custom skin.
  • Other overlapping active CCs (if any) will apply their own rules unless you opt out of those too.

Overlap rule: if you are inside more than one active CC’s radius at once, the smallest / most-specific CC takes precedence — unless you’ve opted out of it, in which case we fall through to the next one. Opting out of every overlapping CC restores the default LyPinn individual experience.

Kiosk (voice booth) recordings

Some CCs operate a physical voice booth. When you use one:

  • Your audio is streamed to OpenAI Whisper for transcription and immediately discarded.
  • LyPinn does not store audio bytes on disk, in the database, or in logs.
  • Only the transcript is retained, alongside your card, under the same retention as any card you post.
  • Booth cards are posted as anonymous ghost users (they are not linked to a LyPinn account even if you happen to have one).
  • CCs may see aggregate usage statistics (total transcriptions, minutes used, drop-off rate) for billing and overage reasons, but never linked to individual identities.

QR drop cards

Cards posted from a CC’s QR code page record your card text, approximate location (the event radius), device fingerprint, IP address, and — if you provided one — a phone number optionally verified by SMS. Phone numbers are used only for anti-abuse and legal compliance; they are never shared with sponsors or shown to other users.

Sponsor and ad impressions on booth surfaces

Booth and QR pages may show sponsor or ad tiles. LyPinn logs anonymised view / click counts (with a device fingerprint hash for dedup, deleted after 60 minutes) to power dashboards for CC operators and sponsors. No user identity, phone number, or contact info is shared with sponsors.

Section added in LyPinn v1.4.3.
